Osteopathy is a type of manual therapy to treat musculoskeletal related problems in the body. It is hands-on and non invasive. Our bodies have their own healing ability, it is an osteopath’s job to help remove any barriers which negatively impact this natural process and help restore the optimal function of the body.
Osteopaths typically treat the body as a whole, considering all aspects of an individual’s health, including physical, emotional, social and mental. We believe the body is connected and all these factors have an effect on our body’s natural healing process. Everyone’s treatment will be tailored for their own specific needs as we are all different.
Techniques that may be used during an osteopathic treatment are soft tissue massage, stretching, articulations, exercises and joint manipulations. You may also get some aftercare advice and exercises to do at home from your osteopath to speed up healing process and to reduce the likeliness of the condition from returning.
Osteopaths are primary healthcare professionals therefore can diagnose, treat and prevent a wide range of medical conditions. This means you do not have to be referred to an osteopath; you can see an osteopath without having to see a doctor first.
We take a full case history, assess the body and after we have got to the root of what is causing your pain, we begin treatment. Your treatment plan will also be explained.

DURATION
30 - 60 Mins
We recommend you book 45 or 60 minutes for your first appointment.
PRICE
£39 - £69
Depending on duration
INCLUDES
A consultation, assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
CONSULTATION
During your first appointment we will always start off with a consultation, no matter what service you book in for. Depending on your history, the length of the consultation will vary from person to person. The osteopath will examine areas of your body and may make you do some simple movements to help them make a diagnosis.
TREATMENT PLAN
Once you are happy with the explanation and diagnosis given by your osteopath, you will both have the time to discuss your treatment plan before any hands-on treatment. During your first appointment you may not have as much treatment time as expected. You can reduce the consultation time by filling out the form sent to you prior to your appointment.
THE SESSION
The techniques used by your osteopath will depend on what you book in for and your injury/ pain area. Your treatments may be different every appointment or may be very similar. This depends on what the osteopath has found during examination and what you both agree on, on the day. Please let the osteopath know if you want more treatment on a specific area and also if you are in any discomfort during your treatment. The pressure used will be adjusted to your liking.
POST TREATMENT
At the end of your session your osteopath may give you post treatment advice or prescribe you exercises to do at home. This is usually so the benefits of treatment can last longer and for you to recover faster. We recommend you book 45 or 60 minutes for your first appointment.
